Kalista's First Birthday

We celebrated Kalista's birthday with Mickey Mouse and his friends yesterday. We took a trip to the Second Happiest Place On the Earth....Downtown Disney.

We started off the day by picking up Jen's mom from the airport and then headed up to Anaheim for a day of fun. We had a great lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Kalista enjoyed coloring her placemat and watched all the animated rainforest animals come to life.

After lunch, we walked around and checked out all the new shops that have popped up since we were there last. Kalista loved the World of Disney store. She was able to identify a few of her favorite characters, Rapunzel and her pal Pascal, were a few she knew. She giggled and poked at the packaging. She even picked out a shirt for herself that she liked. It's amazing what they know at this age and what they do about it! When we were at Costco the other day, Kalista tried to slip a blu-ray copy of Bambi into our cart when we weren't watching. What are we in for in the future?

Here are a few pictures from our fun day's events:

Went shopping and Kalista got her first set of Mickey Ears

After a long afternoon at Downtown Disney, we headed back to San Diego with an order from The Boiling Crab in tow for dinner. We absolutely love that place! Yum yum yum!

Home at last and had her toy cake ready

She wasn't too thrilled to see the real cake

Kalista did eventually get the courage and touched her cake oh so carefully. She got a little frustrated that the frosting got stuck to her hands, but managed to get rid of some of it on Jen's face. How awesome!

At the end of the day, we knew Kalista had a great first birthday!

  1. Happy Birthday Kalista! Can't wait to have a play-date sometime... you are a trooper and a survivor!!! Yay!!

For Karsie's first birthday party, I wanted the cake-all-over-the-face picture.... so we smeared some on her face and pretended. She thought that was very funny. Didn't eat a bite though! Haha!
